Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is considered a key leadership competency and a predictor of performance and success. In fact, it is twice more important indicator of professional success as IQ and technical skills combined.

EI describes a skill set related to SELF-AWARENESS (recognizing our own feelings and thoughts), SELF-MANAGEMENT (the ability to regulate triggers and manage own behavior); SOCIAL AWARENESS (recognizing other people’s feelings; showing empathy), and RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (building relationships; influencing others; managing conflicts).

Mindfulness practices help us build EI. Mindfulness focuses on “being attentive but without judgment,” which is the same idea as Awareness, the foundation of EI. Plus, mindfulness trains the brain to become more emotionally in tune.
